As filing deadlines approach in statewide races, Ohio's Democrat and Republican parties change the lineup, while lawmakers and petitioners line up their issues for this year's ballots. Meanwhile, Cleveland's mayor points to an overhaul in city hall. And to some major problems in a local mortgage assistance program. Are We Really Recovering From the Recession?
We've heard the whispers about the recession ending over the past few months. Those voices got louder this week with reports that the U.S GDP grew 3.5 percent last quarter. Is the U.S economy recovering from the recession? Monday morning at 9, host Dan Moulthrop and guests will examine indicators like the price of oil, pace of exports, home sales, and consumer spending, and we'll find out why the national outlook seems so much brighter than what we see here in Northeastern Ohio.

The city of Akron announces layoffs and the Cleveland school district reveals its cost-cutting measures aren't succeeding, but new school construction continues. Meanwhile, three northeast Ohio companies are poised for expansion. We'll discuss those stories Thursday morning at 9, and as Cuyahoga County voters prepare to decide on whether to restructure county or simply study the issue more, we look back at the last major overhaul in the region – in Summit County in 1979.

Reporters' Roundtable: May 14, 2009
This week, the Plain Dealer has been hammering on the costs of government in Cuyahoga County. The implication is this: that Cuyahoga County residents may not be getting as much bang for their buck as other urban counties in Ohio. Thursday morning at 9 on the reporters' roundtable, we'll hear from the reporter behind the story about what she found and what may be coming in the investigation.
