Great Lakes Theater Festival's 2010-2011 season, its 49th, will be a Shakespeare-heavy affair.

Charles Fee, producing artistic director for the Cleveland company, over the weekend announced the lineup for a season that will run from September 2010 through April 2011. The new season will be performed at PlayhouseSquare's Hanna and Ohio theatres.

From Sept. 24 to Oct. 31, 2010, GLTF will present Shakespeare's “Othello” in rotating repertory with Oscar Wilde's comedy “An Ideal Husband.” Risa Brainin will direct “Othello,” while Sari Ketter will be at the helm of “An Ideal Husband.”

GLTF's annual production of the Charles Dickens' holiday classic “A Christmas Carol” runs Dec. 3-23. The show was originally adapted and is directed by Gerald Freedman.

In spring 2011, GLTF will present “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged),” an irreverent romp by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, from March 11-27, 2011. That production will be followed by Shakespeare's romantic comedy “The Two Gentlemen of Verona,” running April 8- 23, 2011.

Mr. Fee will direct both of the spring productions.

Complete summaries of the plays are available here.

“A Christmas Carol” remains in its traditional Ohio Theatre home, while the four other works will be performed at the Hanna.
