TravelCenters of America LLC has reported a third-quarter loss compared to a year-earlier profit on a 41% drop in revenue.

The operator of highway travel centers said the loss in the latest third quarter totaled $12.2 million, or 73 cents a share. In last year's third quarter, TravelCenters had net income of $16.7 million, or $1.08 a share.

Revenue at TravelCenters fell to $1.28 billion from $2.16 billion, as fuel sales plunged 46% to $984.9 million from $1.83 billion.
